Cranes are used to transport materials over variable paths within a restricted area.

Major Types of Cranes:

(1) Gantry Cranes

=> Types of Gantry Cranes - Single leg, Double leg and Mobile types
=> Can be fixed in positions or travel on runways
=> Can be used outdoors when it is supported at both ends

(2) Jib Cranes

=> A hoist is attached to the arm for lifting
=> It can function as a manipulator for positioning tasks
=> Its arm can rotate 360°

(3) Stacker Cranes

=> Used for storing and retrieving unit loads in storage racks, especially in high-rise applications (more than 50 feet high)
=> Can be controlled remotely or manually by an operator
=> Can be rack-supported
