Materials Handling Equipments are commonly used for the movement and storage of materials within the area.

Classified into 5 major categories :
- Transport Equipment
=> The equipment is used for movement of materials from one place to another.
- Positioning Equpiment
=> The equipment is used for handling of materials at the single area to make sure that material is at the correct place for subsequent handling, machining, transport and storage.
- Unit Load Formation Equpiment
=> The equipment is used to restrict materials so as to maintain their integrity when handling a single load when transport and storage.
- Storage Equipment
=> The equipment is used to hold or buffer materials over a period of time.
- Identification and Control Equipment
=> The equipment is used to retrieve and communicate the information that is used to coordinate the flow of materials within and between the plant and its suppliers and customers.
